Annie trained as milliner but later became a nurse & was a Sister at Guy's Hospital in London. She went out to South Africa to join Lizzie Duxbury who was also a nurse & presumably a cousin. Annie took a post at a hospital in Johannesburg. There she met Douglas Wishart, a Scot, who was a patient. He was a civil engineer connected with gold mining. They married in South Africa & had a daughter Maureen. They visited England in 1932 when Maureen was four. The passenger list indicates that their proposed address in the UK was at Thorpe Bay, Essex which is where Douglas's uncle John Dew lived. After their return to South Africa, Annie developed cancer from which she died about two years later. Douglas remarried after some time.
